Uganda shipped a record 642,981 bags of coffee worth almost $199 million last month. This marks the highest monthly value ever seen with huge jumps compared to last year. Ugacof led all exporters with about 12% of the market share. Italy bought the most Uganda coffee, at 38%, followed by India and Germany. Mt. Elgon A+ beans earned the most money, at $7.55 per kilo. Local farmers received good pay, with Kiboko beans going for 7,600 shillings per kilo.

World coffee production should reach 174.9 million bags this year. People around the world keep drinking more coffee, especially in Europe, America, and China. The UCDA expects April exports to hit about 600,000 bags as southern regions harvest their crops.
