Kenya will receive up to 1.5 billion pounds from the United Kingdom through a fresh partnership deal. President William Ruto and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer will sign the Kenya-UK Strategic Partnership agreement that runs from 2025 to 2030. The deal focuses on four main areas of trade, climate action, technology development and security cooperation. State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed announced the partnership on Sunday. The agreement aims to create jobs and boost Kenya's position on the world stage. President Ruto left Kenya on Sunday June 29 for official visits to both the United Kingdom and Spain. The partnership seeks to double trade between the two countries before 2030 hits. Officials plan to train Kenyans with digital skills and improve cooperation on fighting terrorism and cyber threats. The deal will speed up major projects like the Nairobi Railway City development. Both nations will work together to access green financing from various sources. The technology section of the partnership will expand Kenya's innovation sector and support new businesses. Digital job creation and startup support form key parts of this cooperation. Artificial intelligence and new technologies will see joint development efforts. Lloyd's of London plans to open a regional office in Nairobi under the Nairobi International Financial Centre. This move positions Nairobi as a financial center for countries south of the Sahara Desert. President Ruto will first visit Seville Spain for the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development. He will meet with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and King Felipe VI during his Spain trip. Their talks will cover clean energy projects youth empowerment and climate strength building. Ruto will deliver a major speech at the Africa Debate event hosted by Invest Africa. The event promotes Kenya's economic changes and attracts new investments to the country.
