A top military officer from Uganda made a special trip to see diplomats working in Somalia this week. Lieutenant Colonel Peter Ruyogoza Barigye leads Ugandan soldiers who work with the United Nations Guard Unit Eleven. He stopped by the Uganda Embassy in Mogadishu to talk about working together better. The visit helps the military and embassy staff stay connected as they try to bring peace to the area. Both groups want to make sure they support each other during their important work. The deputy ambassador welcomed Barigye and his team with open arms. Major General Nathan Mugisha told the visitors that the embassy acts like a second home for all Ugandans serving in Somalia. He promised to keep helping the peacekeeping troops who work under different international programs. Mugisha praised how professional and dedicated the Ugandan soldiers are during their missions. He said their work helps bring stability to both Uganda and the whole region. Barigye brought several other officers with him to the meeting. His deputy Major Jacob Gowan Kaburika came along with other key staff members. Major Topista Opar Giramia handles gender issues and works with women in the community. Captain Joseph Maada Edube takes care of military information and Captain Mustafa Ssegonja joined the group. The defense attaché Brigadier General Francis Chemonges also attended the important meeting.
