Uganda Revenue Authority workers visited Kanoni Town to collect taxes from small businesspeople. The mobile tax office campaign reached Gomba District after successful work at Kabulasoke Town. Traders already knew about income tax because officials from Mityana office had taught them earlier. Many business owners received Payment Registration Numbers during that previous visit. Bank agents helped people pay their taxes right away near the mobile office. Small businesses must pay presumptive tax when they earn between 10 million and 150 million shillings yearly. Companies without proper record books fall under these tax rules across Uganda. Payment amounts start at 80,000 shillings and change based on business type. Tax Education Supervisor Ziyad Kakeeto explained the rules to Henry Ssali, who represents traders. Ssali worried that some businesses were paying amounts that seemed unfair. Abdullah Kabugo paid 100,000 shillings after learning why the government needs tax money. He felt better about paying after the URA staff explained how taxes help build the country. Local leaders want to work with tax collectors to teach more people about their duties. One trader called Kanoni the city of Gomba because business keeps growing there. Community cooperation helps reduce fear and misunderstanding about tax payments. Uganda loses over 2 trillion shillings each year because people avoid paying taxes. The Tujenge Uganda campaign helps bring informal businesses into the official tax system. Revenue authorities want all companies to pay their fair share for national development projects. Tax collection drives help fund schools, hospitals, and roads that benefit everyone. More education and enforcement will help Uganda collect the money it needs.
