Ural Coach Shatov Loses Voice After Cup Clash With Spartak

Ural acting coach Oleg Shatov lost his voice during their Russian Cup quarterfinal against Spartak. He could only whisper to reporters after the match, saying he simply could not speak anymore. Throughout the game, Shatov actively guided his players from the sidelines with constant instructions. Despite his vocal efforts, his team still fell short against their opponents. The strain of shouting directions throughout the match left him completely voiceless.

Shatov hung up his cleats as a player just last year, in 2023. He joined Ural as an assistant coach in June 2024 before temporarily stepping into the head coaching role in November. His coaching record shows eight wins, four draws, and just two losses across fourteen matches. The team currently holds third position in the First League standings with 49 points after 28 rounds. His transition from player to coach happened quickly but has produced mostly positive results despite this recent setback.
