Vienna Symphonic Library Launches Smart Orchestra Update

The Vienna Symphonic Library has introduced Synchron Smart Orchestra 2.0, an accessible virtual instrument aimed at musicians seeking efficient orchestration capabilities and hybrid scoring solutions.

The updated software delivers several enhancements, including a new user interface called "Flow View" alongside expanded instrumental offerings. Musicians will find additional solo instruments—violin, viola, and bassoon—complemented by new articulations such as staccato, sforzato, and lyrical legato for all solo instruments. The company has also added two supplementary content packages: Smart Spheres and Smart Hits.

"The system places the entire orchestra directly on your keyboard," said a representative from Vienna Symphonic Library. Musicians can perform orchestral sections with their left hand and lead instruments with their right, creating dynamic compositions through an intuitive interface. For more detailed arrangements, users may deploy multiple instances across separate digital audio workstation tracks.

Members of the renowned Vienna Synchron Orchestra performed all instrumental parts during extensive recording sessions at the spacious Stage A of the Vienna Synchron Stage. The comprehensive library encompasses strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, and choral sections—each available individually or as a complete ensemble through an adjustable mixer.

Lead instruments feature prominently throughout the collection, including solo violin, solo cello, violin ensemble, cello ensemble, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, horn, harp, and celesta. The Smart Spheres and Smart Hits expansion libraries add contemporary electronic textures, organic sound elements, and design components specifically crafted for modern scoring applications.

Vienna Symphonic Library offers the updated version through their official store and Best Service for an introductory price of $209, compared to the regular price of $282. The company provides various crossgrade options from existing Synchron Series libraries and the discontinued Vienna Smart Orchestra collection. Current Synchron Smart Orchestra users receive the update at no additional cost.
