Wakudumo thanks region as new governor takes charge

In a transition of regional leadership, Bonifatius Wakudumo reflected on his quinquennial tenure as Kavango East's governor, expressing deep appreciation for the opportunity to serve. During a ceremonial handover in Rundu, Wakudumo characterized his administrative period as a profound journey marked by both challenges and meaningful achievements. He expressed gratitude to the region's residents for their sustained trust and collaborative spirit throughout his leadership. The outgoing governor underscored his commitment to diligent governance focused on regional development.

Wakudumo highlighted strategic efforts addressing critical areas, including infrastructure enhancement, youth advancement, and economic progression. The governor credited the region's resilience and unwavering determination as fundamental to navigating complex governmental responsibilities. Regional Council Chairperson Damian Maghambayi praised Wakudumo's dedicated service and recognized its substantial contributions to community welfare and economic growth. The incoming governor, Julius Hambyuka, articulated an ambitious development strategy targeting unemployment, economic transformation, and rural advancement. Hambyuka emphasized creating robust partnerships with commercial chambers to stimulate entrepreneurship and generate employment opportunities for young professionals.

Hambyuka outlined comprehensive plans targeting small business development, particularly for youth and women entrepreneurs. He stressed the significance of township and rural economic ecosystems as critical components of socioeconomic progress. Disaster management emerged as another key priority, with Hambyuka urging local authorities to implement comprehensive risk mitigation strategies. The new governor warned residents against unauthorized construction in vulnerable geographical zones, demonstrating a proactive approach to regional governance.
