Warm Audio announced a new stereo valve microphone that recreates the famous AKG C24 design. The company calls their WA-CX24 model a modern version of the classic recording equipment. The microphone costs much less than original C24 models that studios still seek today. Audio engineers praise the original C24 for its warm sound and flexible recording options. The new microphone aims to bring that same quality to more recording studios. The WA-CX24 uses two CK12-style capsules made from solid brass material. These same capsules appear in Warm Audio's popular WA-CX12 microphone model. The device contains a premium 12AY7 vacuum tube for warm sound character. TAB-Funkenwerk makes the output transformers used inside the microphone. The rotating capsule design allows engineers to capture different stereo recording patterns. Each capsule offers nine different pickup patterns for various recording situations. Engineers can choose from cardioid, omnidirectional and figure-of-eight patterns. The rotating assembly moves up to 180 degrees for stereo configurations. Popular setups such as X-Y, Blumlein and Mid-Side become possible with this design. The microphone delivers smooth high frequencies and rich midrange tones. Bryce Young founded Warm Audio and serves as company president. He believes the microphone brings professional studio capabilities to more recording facilities. The balanced sound profile helps engineers capture natural recordings without phase problems. The stereo recording ability reduces work needed during mixing and editing phases. The WA-CX24 ships with several accessories for immediate studio use. Buyers receive a dual-pattern power supply, shock mount and specialized cable. The package adds a wooden display box and protective travel case. The microphone costs 1449 pounds or 1699 euros and ships immediately.
