Warriors Lose Nakamba for Qualifiers

Marvelous Nakamba will miss the Warriors' World Cup Qualifiers against Benin and Nigeria this month because of a calf injury. He damaged his soleus muscle and needs at least six weeks to heal. Luton Town coach Matt Bloomfield talked about this setback during a recent press update. Bloomfield mentioned that player Shandon Baptiste has the same calf problem with an identical recovery timeline.

Bloomfield pulled Nakamba from the field at halftime during their Watford match. At that time, he had no clue that Nakamba was actually hurt. The coach just noticed Nakamba moving slowly as the team struggled against their opponents. After switching three players at halftime, Bloomfield found out about the calf issue, and scans later showed the full extent of the problem.

Nakamba had already played in 21 league games this season before this latest injury. He had recently come back from a serious knee problem that kept him off the field for more than nine months. Bloomfield stressed his team must become faster and physically stronger moving forward. He believes regular playing time helps build the fitness and toughness his players need for better performance.
