KJV Ephesians 5: 22-24
  • 22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
  • 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the savior of the body.
  • 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

ChiShona Bhaibheri Version
  • 22 Imi vakadzi, muzviise pasi pavarume venyu chaivo, sezvamunoita kunaShe.
  • 23 Nokuti murume musoro womukadzi, saKristuvo musoro wekereke; iye amene ndiye muponesi womuviri.
  • 24 Asi kereke sezvairi pasi paKristu, vakadzi ngavadaro pazvinhu zvose kuvarume vavo.

Feminists will beg to differ with that Ephesians verse, just saying.

Over the years women have been subjected to mistreatment as second class-citizens by religion and African traditional cultures which is why it’s hard for even some women to take religious movements seriously because of that.

I will add on to say feminism is simply rights for women, to be allowed to be the kind of woman you want to be without being pressured by society.

Women from all walks of life are different and have different dreams and goals. Hence women should have the right to fulfill their goals, not just ways that make men happy.

Of course, feminists will switch to "airplane mode" when they hear that.

But are there no other issues the feminist movement can tackle aside from dragging men and African culture.

It’s really becoming annoying.

You know some say African culture is barbaric but yet they still want you to pay lobola or roora ("the bride price") forgetting roora is not a feminist thing.

I mean will they be able to talk to their family not to ask for roora payments?

Exactly my thoughts.

It’s always about who should do this and not do that.

In other words, I sometimes wonder if feminism is just a way for certain women to look for an excuse to shy away from doing what is right in their homes or future homes—like trying to avoid doing house chores and cooking.

Everyone can’t marry a wealthy man who will employ a maid or something.

Feminism is diverse, it's about women respecting themselves, doing better for themselves, embracing different ideologies and schools of thought.

Wives submitting to their husbands does not mean they have lesser rights or position in the marriage.

The "submission" referred to in the Holy Bible (VaEfeso) is different from what most people think but it describes a situation of 'yielding to'.

Therefore it doesn't mean the husband should make unilateral decisions and expect automatic compliance.

Submission is not subordination.

Yeah, the duties and responsibilities described in VaEfeso are for both genders!

On the contrary, some but not all African men use the word submission to oppress.
