Now that Zimdancehall music is arguably one of the most popular genres in Zim's arts and entertainment industry who would you say deserves the title of being called the king of Zimdancehall in contemporary times?
What you are asking is subjective and not objective. Music is like food; people have different tastes notwithstanding there are some recording artists' names that quickly come to people's minds when they think of listening to Zimdaansaal myuuzik and some of these musicians like:
Winky D is a veteran in the industry but times have changed.
If you notice you have young Zimdancehall artists like Bazooker, Enzo Ishall, and Pankshan that have potential and Chillspot Records have helped these artists to grow their career in the music business.
Freeman HKD Boss is someone I would consider to be the Zimdancehall King because he is a versatile artist than most of these Zimdancehall musicians.
Legion has been using Winky D's pattern (or style). He is a clout chaser and I don't consider him to be a force to reckon with. He lacks creativity and doesn't stand out like the prominent Zimdancehall artists.
Soul Musaka was really a talented musician during his time but he still wasn't near the level of Wallace Chirumiko. These are facts guys. No favor or anything.
No, you are wrong. There are radio DJs who do that in Zim. They mostly do it for upcoming artists because they can get away with it without facing too much backlash. If an upcoming artist speaks on it chances are people aren't going to believe them so that's that. Moreover, payola only doesn't work if we are talking about shows i.e., the number of music fans that will actually come to support you in-person.
@Lenard you should scratch Seh Calaz off that list. Recent results have shown Winky D is better when both artists held their album launches on the same day. So many people showed up to Winky D's event at HICC. Even Seh Calaz's baby mama Moira Knight was speaking on Winky D's album on IG.
Has anyone here noticed how Winky D does the same old same gimmick each and every year? It's now boring. He also seems to be funded by the opposition in Zimbabwe. I am not saying artists shouldn't be sponsored but at least make it clear it's part of democracy after all.

Some of y'all dudes are clearly daft, I can tell. There is no reason whatsoever for Moira Knight to mention Seh Calaz's album on her page if she doesn't want to. That's like saying every time Stunner drops a new Zim hip-hop album Dyonne Tanaka is supposed to say something positive about it. Make it make sense you oans. Even if she does that y'all oans will start making threads saying the deij wants the old thing back.

Winky D is the voice of the voiceless coz he addresses our day-to-day suffering through music plus anongodiwa nevanhu. Haana noise kana vhavhu, nyangwe otaurwa seyi he stays calm and relaxed.
