Zimbabwean Businessman Claims $100 Million Net Worth, Eyes Billionaire Status. Wicknell Chivayo, a prominent businessman in Zimbabwe, recently claimed his net worth exceeds $100 million. This would make him one of a small group of centi-millionaires on the African continent. Mr. Chivayo, age 41, says he is on track to reach billionaire status within the next nine years before he turns 50. He believes this is his destiny, based on a prophecy he says he received back in 1994. "I just need nine years or less," Mr. Chivayo posted online. "Have patience. God's plans take time, but I will definitely get there." His claims came in response to a local news story suggesting he still had far to go to join the ranks of billionaires. Earlier in the week, Mr. Chivayo boldly stated that nothing would stop him from reaching this milestone. A net worth of $100 million would put Mr. Chivayo in rarified company in Africa. South Africa has the highest number of centi-millionaires at 98, followed by Egypt with 54 and Nigeria with 27. A handful of other African nations have small numbers of individuals worth over $100 million. Mr. Chivayo's ultimate goal lies in the exclusive club of billionaires. Currently, Zimbabwe is one of just two southern African countries with black billionaires. Telecom tycoon Strive Masiyiwa of Zimbabwe and mining magnate Patrice Motsepe of South Africa have achieved this status. Only time will tell if Mr. Chivayo can back up his bold claims and join their ranks. But his ambitions are undeniably high. He aims to ascend from centi-millionaire to billionaire in under a decade. His business ventures and growing wealth will be closely watched in the coming years.
