Yoshika Colwell shared a dream-like song called "Last Night" back in February. That marked her first new music since making the 2024 EP This Weather with Vernon Spring. The English singer just dropped another expansive track named "Fighting On The Wing."
Colwell explains her song explores taking first steps down fresh paths and breaking harmful patterns. She wrote it sitting in her London garden, watching nature and living in the present moment after a long absence. The music celebrates spring both as a season and a metaphor. She describes elderflowers, birds, and green bursts surrounding her. The lyrics show someone carefully finding peace despite our endless need to overthink everything. Her inspiration came partly from Wendell Berry's poem "The Peace Of Wild Things."
The gorgeous song features calm guitar playing and sparkling keyboard sounds. Her lovely voice takes center stage as she delivers powerful words that touch listeners deeply. She created "Fighting On The Wing" with help from Oli Bayston and Jimmy Hogarth, who helped write and produce it at Studio Orbb. Tilly Wace made an earthy music video you can watch below.
