President Museveni visited Wakiso District and told people to stop just looking at new roads and buildings. He wants families to start making money instead of admiring government projects. The president spoke at Wampewo Community Playground during his Monday rally. He said infrastructure helps everyone but personal wealth depends on individual effort. Factory workers need food and milk which creates business opportunities for local people. Museveni began his wealth creation tour across Wakiso District which has 3.4 million residents. He visited metal workers and met farmers who received Parish Development Model funding. The president wants locals to see examples of successful small businesses. His tour will continue until Friday with more community meetings planned. Government programs give people money but many fail to use the opportunities properly. Uganda has changed dramatically since 1986 when basic items were hard to find. Factories have replaced banana farms and forests across the region. These companies created 1.2 million jobs compared to 480,000 government positions. Agriculture provides work for 3.6 million people and services employ about 5 million citizens. The president promised to reduce business costs through better railways and cheaper electricity. Wakiso District received 30.7 billion shillings through the Parish Development Model program. The money went to almost 32,000 households across 363 villages. Local leaders have done poor follow-up work according to Museveni. Government has sent wealth creation funds since 1996 through different programs. Young people especially need to take advantage of available resources and stop making excuses.
