Youth Get Tractors to Modernize Local Farming

Young farmers across Matabeleland are starting to pick up their farm tractors today. The national government gave seven machines to each province through its Youth Agriculture Empowerment Programme. These tractors will help young people farm better and grow more food. President Mnangagwa started this plan to make farming more modern. Every district in both North and South Matabeleland will receive one tractor.

Moses Langa from the Zanu-PF Youth League thanked the government for these machines. He said the tractors would make farming much easier for young people. Many youths raise cattle and need machines to make hay for their animals. The President paid half the cost of each tractor himself. Empower Bank helped set up the program for young farmers.

The government plans to drill water wells for youth business groups next. More help for fish farming, chicken raising, and cattle projects will come later. Langa promised they would take good care of these resources. The North Matabeleland youth leader called the tractor program a big step forward for local farmers.

Lundi Sinzeka said young farmers already have small plots of land ready to farm. The machines arrived at just the right time to help them grow crops. This marks the first time their province has received such equipment. They plan to share the tractors between all seven districts. The youth feel President Mnangagwa cares about making their lives better.

Dr. Anxious Masuka from the Agriculture Ministry handed over the tractors last Thursday. He explained how important these machines are for modern farming. The 72 tractors can plow about 7,700 hectares of land across the country. This could produce 77,000 metric tonnes of grain worth around $26 million. The tractors belong to youth business groups, not single persons.

Dr. Masuka warned everyone that these tractors must serve their real purpose. The government expects proper business management of the equipment. A $10 million package for water systems will soon help these same young farmers. Both AFC and Empower Bank will provide this money. The youth stand ready to change Zimbabwe into a farming powerhouse.

Better machines and constant government support put young people at the center of Zimbabwe's farm future. The program creates jobs and helps ensure the country can feed itself. Young farmers with good tools can change how things work in Matabeleland. The region has great land just waiting for people with energy and equipment. Zimbabwe might soon lead other nearby countries in growing food.
