Zak Starkey spoke about his recent dismissal from The Who during a new interview with NME magazine. The drummer lost his position after making mistakes during one performance at Royal Albert Hall. Starkey explained he had technical problems and missed some beats during the show. The musician searched everywhere but could not find where he made the errors. Roger Daltrey demanded a public apology from Starkey before allowing him back. Starkey recorded his apology video using a duck character from his other band Mantra Of The Cosmos. Pete Townshend called and asked him to redo the apology without the duck. The drummer complied and regained his position for ten days. Daltrey fired him again after the duck incident and said he could not work with Starkey anymore. The musician has performed with The Who and Oasis for many years. Oasis selected Joey Waronker as their drummer for upcoming reunion shows. Starkey offered advice to Waronker about working with the band members. He praised the Gallagher brothers as smart musicians who know their tempos perfectly. Starkey warned Waronker not to mess up the opportunity. The drummer also commented about Barry Keoghan playing his father Ringo Starr in upcoming Beatles movies. Starkey suggested Keoghan should wear a rubber nose since they look nothing alike. His band Mantra Of The Cosmos plans to release another single soon. The musician described the new song as more political than their current release. Starkey joked about taking time to relax after his recent career troubles.
