The Zimbabwe Defence Forces plan to keep the country safe to meet goals that improve life for its people. Army Commander Lieutenant General Anselem Sanyatwe said this when Brigadier-General Million Ndlovu became the new leader of the 2 Infantry Brigade at Kaguvi Barracks in Harare on Wednesday. He took over from Brigadier-General Charles Mashava. The army wants to update its equipment to protect the country. Lt Gen Sanyatwe said all Zimbabweans want a better future. The army must create a peaceful place where government plans can work and people feel safe. The Defence Forces will ask the government through the Defence Ministry for the tools they need. They want to be ready for any problems that might happen. Lt Gen Sanyatwe told leaders to pay attention to good leadership that fits with today's circumstances. At the event, Lt Gen Sanyatwe helped two female soldiers move up in rank. Between Maziriri and Tariro Maronga, they did very well during the parade. Brigadier General Ndlovu said he can handle leading a group that covers all Mashonaland areas. He thanked God for helping him reach this important job in his army career. Before this, he worked at the Centre for Defence and Security Studies. Brigadier General Mashava said being a leader taught him many things. His team worked hard together to solve problems. He will next work at the ZDF main office as director general of Civil-Military Relations. On Tuesday, Lt Gen Sanyatwe also watched as Major General Josphat Kudumba gave leadership to Brigadier General Raban Nikisi at Inkomo Barracks. In another change, Colonel Richard Mapanda gave the Harare District Garrison to Colonel Never Makuyana. These changes help officers face new challenges.
