The Zimbabwe Football Association has hired Marian Marinica, a Romanian coach known as Mario, to lead the Warriors national team under a 12-month agreement. The incoming coach previously worked with national squads from Paraguay, Mauritius, Malawi and Liberia. He led Malawi to the knockout stage at the 2022 African championship, marking their strongest performance in history. Marinica will oversee upcoming friendlies against Algeria and Qatar before focusing on the continental tournament in Morocco, where Zimbabwe faces Egypt on December 22 in Agadir. The Warriors also meet Angola and South Africa in Group B competition. Association officials selected Marinica from more than 200 candidates who applied.
