ZIFA signs deals to boost digital football transformation

Zimbabwe's football administration made big strides yesterday in Harare by forming strategic partnerships that promise digital advancement and grassroots development. ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi signed agreements with Kyros Sports and PD House, marking a significant step forward.

The football association plans to boost school-level development through collaboration with Kyros Sport, a company that has already contributed greatly to rugby, athletics, and swimming programs. PD House, which specializes in web development, will update ZIFA's website to meet international standards, making it more accessible and creating new income opportunities through technological innovations.

Magwizi expressed enthusiasm about these partnerships, stating they represent just the beginning of many future deals aimed at transforming Zimbabwean football. He emphasized that building sports requires proper resources and creating environments that generate the necessary revenue for advancement. These partnerships aim to develop capacity across all areas of the association's efforts.

The ZIFA president highlighted that these agreements come at no cost to the association but offer financial benefits. He acknowledged that establishing projects requires substantial work first, which their partners will help accomplish before revenue generation begins. Kyros Sports will work directly with schools to create clear pathways for upcoming football stars.

Nyasha Muchochomi, director at Kyros Sports, explained their company uses modern talent identification processes and advanced technology tools for training. They maintain a strong ground team and have previously worked with several national sports bodies, including helping swimmer Donata Katai prepare for Olympic competition. Their strength lies in creating effective structures for talent development.

Tafadzwa Benza, ZIFA board member for Technical Development, expressed optimism about working with Kyros Sport. He mentioned their programs will help schools implement appropriate training systems, establishing clear development paths for youth football. The partnership may also help national teams adopt artificial intelligence and other digital technologies.

Martin Mukaro from PD House described his company's focus on the technological aspects of the football business, particularly enterprise resource planning. Their capabilities extend to developing websites, apps, and various technology platforms. The company has an overseas team that handles app development, having previously created the Zimpapers app in Zimbabwe.

Mukaro explained how technology expands opportunities for e-commerce, ticket sales, and global market reach. Digital platforms allow ZIFA to connect beyond Zimbabwe to audiences worldwide. PD House plans to develop apps and improve the website before collaborating with media outlets to ensure information reaches people throughout Zimbabwe and beyond.
