Land planted with maize grew to 1.8 million hectares, beating the government target. Tobacco, cotton, and sunflower production all went up as well. The number of cattle in the country rose slightly to 5.7 million, with most owned by small farmers. Beef production reached 94,623 tons, up from 90,000 last year.
