[QUOTE="Munyaradzi Mafaro, post: 39160, member: 636"] KTN journalist Zubeida Kananu thanked everyone who supported her after winning a second term as president of the Kenya Editors Guild. She said the victory shows that guild members believe in her vision for a stronger media industry. Kananu promised to keep building on the progress made during her first term as leader. The journalist emphasized that she wants to work with all members regardless of their different backgrounds and opinions. She believes the guild becomes stronger when everyone works together toward common goals. Kananu congratulated Citizen TV's Yvonne Okwara for running a respectful and energetic campaign against her. She praised Okwara for showing the democratic values that make their profession strong and healthy. The president said she looks forward to working with her former opponent to improve the guild. Kananu also welcomed all the newly elected council members who will serve during her second term. She expressed excitement about collaborating with these leaders to move the organization forward. The virtual election held on Saturday saw Kananu receive 72 votes compared to Okwara's 58 votes. Francis Openda from Radio Africa Group will serve as deputy president under Kananu's leadership. Agnes Mwangangi won the radio representative position, and Julius Bosire represents academia on the council. Mildred Awuor secured the television representative role, and Linda Bach represents print media members. Martin Masai, Ruth Nesoba, and Mbugua Ng'ang'a earned trustee positions for the guild.
