Zvishavane Town will soon see big changes as the $29 million Midlands Park Housing Project nears completion. This modern development will house 1,000 families and support what the government calls affordable housing goals under the Second Republic. The Public Service Commission has partnered with First Mutual Life Assurance Company to build 156 modern flats and 504 student apartments in the Maglas area. These homes show how much the current administration values better housing across Zimbabwe. Midlands Provincial Affairs Minister Owen Ncube recently visited this massive project to check its progress. After touring the site, he spoke to local officials and residents about what he saw. He praised the development as proof of the government's promise to create decent, secure, modern housing for citizens. He mentioned the high-class units feature both two and three-bedroom options, which he found impressive. Ncube pointed out that Zimbabwe has invested heavily in building new infrastructure despite facing economic sanctions that limit access to international loans. He applauded both the Commission and First Mutual Wealth for supporting private sector growth and modernization efforts. According to the Minister, roads, dams, housing, schools, clinics, airports, and power plants all play key roles in helping the economy recover and grow faster. He also talked about other successful projects like the Public Service Pensions-funded Madokero Housing Development and the upgraded Beitbridge Border Post. Since November 24, 2017, the administration has created new policies aimed at better service delivery. The President has stressed teamwork between departments instead of isolated work. Their plan gives more power to provinces and districts to control their development and increase local economic output. Ncube urged everyone to help with national development plans. He asked the Zvishavane Town Council and other local authorities to enforce laws against dangerous buildings. He stated that these groups must make sure all structures meet modern urban standards by fixing or removing rundown buildings. The Minister ended by warning miners to work responsibly since unregulated mining has damaged infrastructure in Zvishavane and created serious risks for people living and working there.
