Larian Studios boss Swen Vincke confirmed their next game, simply titled Divinity, will be turn-based. He stated the team aims to build a bigger experience than Baldur's Gate 3, but in a shorter development window. A major focus will be completely overhauling the Rivellon setting's worldbuilding, an area they feel needs more depth.
Vincke admitted their earlier Divinity games lacked a coherent universe. The process of licensing Dungeons and Dragons for Baldur's Gate 3 taught them the value of a detailed, established setting. They now plan to dedicate significant effort to defining the lore, culture, and daily life within their own original world to provide a stronger foundation.
