Mnangagwa's Third Term Sparks Slogan Clash
At a recent Harare provincial co-ordinating committee meeting, Zanu PF members were told not to chant the 2030 slogan. As rifts continue over President Mnangagwa's bid for a third term, this comes. According to Newsday, the meeting on Sunday was charged, with questions being raised about the ED2030 slogan. Harare chairperson Godwills Masimirembwa was also taken to task. Party members asked national commissar Munyaradzi Machacha why the party leadership had allowed members to chant the 2030 slogan when Mnangagwa said he would not extend his rule. Machacha reportedly said Zanu PF would elect a new leader in 2027, allowing members to support their chosen candidates. He stated that President Mnangagwa's term ends in 2028. However...
Harare City Official Charged for Fake Degree
A top Harare City Council official got in trouble yesterday for not telling the truth. Takudzwa Dzumbunu, who leads the Works and Town Planning Committee, said the commission is looking into the council that she had a university degree. But it turns out she didn't graduate because she failed a class. At first, Dzumbunu said she would show her degree certificates but later admitted she didn't have them. She thought it would be easy to get the documents but realized it wasn't possible since she hadn't completed her degree. Dzumbunu apologized for misleading everyone and said she had no good reason. She was fined $300 or faces six months in jail for lying to the commission.
T.C.P. Logistics' Tea Truck Engulfed in Fire
On Monday, a truck carried black tea from Malawi to South Africa. The truck had 24,000 kg of tea, worth $83,520. The truck caught fire near Featherstone, burning all the tea until it was just ashes. The fire started when the truck was on the Harare-Masvingo highway at the 89 km marker. The driver's name was Chakola Francis. He was 45 years old. Francis saw smoke coming from the truck. He stopped to see what was happening. He found out that the trailer part of the truck was on fire. The front part of the truck was only slightly damaged. There were 400 bags of tea on the trailer. Each bag weighed 60 kg. Francis separated the front part of the truck from the trailer. But he couldn't save the tea. It all burned up. The back wheels of the...
Malema: EFF Won't Back Down Against Zuma
Julius Malema, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), says he isn't afraid of Jacob Zuma, the former president and current leader of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK Party). Malema says he's ready to fight Zuma if necessary. He made these comments on the EFF's podcast, which was shared on the party's social media platforms. Malema believes that anyone who threatens the existence of the EFF can't be a friend, even if they smile in public. He says people keep stabbing him in the back and then want to act friendly when they see him. Malema's comments come after some high-ranking EFF members, like...
Harare Housing Permit Issues
An official said there's a lot of confusion and disorganization regarding approving permits for building service stations and cluster houses in Harare. Councillor Takudzwa Dzumbunu shared this surprising news on Tuesday when she spoke to the Commission of Inquiry into the Governance of Harare City Council since 2017. In May, President Mnangagwa put together a team of five people, with retired judge Justice Maphios Cheda in charge, to look into how the Harare City Council has been running things. When Councillor Dzumbunu answered questions, she said that cluster houses are popping up everywhere, sometimes in areas that don't have the right setup to handle them. She said the problem is worsening because the Harare City Council hasn't...
Harare Flooding Impact
When it rained in Harare this week, some parts of the Central Business District flooded. This happened because the storm drains were blocked. The blocked drains made big puddles of water on the roads, making it hard for people to walk and drive. Some of the flooded places were at the corners of Sir Seretse Khama Street and Robson Manyika Avenue, as well as Robert Mugabe Road and Julius Nyerere Way. Shops near the flooded areas didn't sell much, and customers couldn't get to them easily. One shop owner, Ms Providence Man'ena, said water was everywhere, stopping customers from reaching her shop. She thinks better drains are needed to handle the water, and she said it's becoming a common problem. The flooding also caused bad traffic...

Rich girl drama in Zimbabwe
Pokello Nare and her BFF Tanya didn’t hold back, firing back at Hillary Makaya with a vengeance after she crowned herself Zimbabwe's only rich girl. Makaya, strutting her confidence on Instagram, bragged about her "making it" lifestyle and threw serious shade at Pokello, basically calling her yesterday’s news—a "granny," no less. But Pokello and Tanya? Yeah, they let her know that the title isn't up for grabs that easily.
