The Game Awards dropped a surprise Star Wars title called Fate of the Old Republic, and Casey Hudson from the original KOTOR is running the show at his new studio, Arcanaut. The developer just got set up this summer in Edmonton and Kelowna, which has people worried that this thing is never actually coming out.
Jason Schreier pointed out that the studio only started existing this year, which means a 2030 release would be optimistic. Hudson jumped in to say the game will drop before then, but that still leaves a pretty massive wait. The pitch is a narrative-driven action RPG rather than some giant open-world mess, which could speed things up if they keep it tight like the first KOTOR.
Meanwhile, the KOTOR remake is apparently still...
