Moses Wetang'ula sent the names of Geoffrey Ruku and Hanna Cheptumo to the Committee on Appointments for review. The National Assembly Speaker made this move after President Ruto picked MP Ruku to lead Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programs. Parliament must approve Ruku before he can replace Justin Muturi, who recently lost his job.
President Ruto also selected Cheptumo to run the Ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts, and Heritage. Wetang'ula told lawmakers on Tuesday that he received these nominations from the President last Thursday. The Speaker then passed both names to the special committee, as required by law. This committee must check their backgrounds and decide if they deserve these jobs.
