Intel set to axe a fifth of its workforce under new CEO
Reports say Intel might cut 20 percent of its workers this week. Analyst C.J. Muse from Cantor Fitzgerald noticed more cost-cutting at Intel since Lip-Bu Tan became CEO. According to Trading Economics, Intel had about 108,900 employees at the end of 2024. This means over 21,000 people could lose their jobs. The news comes right before Intel plans to release its first quarter 2025 earnings next week. Bloomberg shared similar news last July about Intel wanting to remove 10,000 jobs. The total workforce stayed around 110,000 despite those earlier reports. Former CEO Pat Gelsinger had created a $10 billion cost reduction plan before leaving. Nobody knows if these new cuts follow Gelsinger's plan or represent Tan's fresh approach. Analysts...

Aloft hits 200k sales and backs Cool Earth
Survival game Aloft has sold 200,000 copies since hitting early access in January 2025. The game studio Astrolabe Interactive wants to help the environment with this success. They plan to give 5% of money earned during the Earth Appreciation Festival on Steam to Cool Earth. Content creators will also stream the game today, with all money going to the same cause. Cool Earth works to save rainforests and help native people who live there. Manuel Bergeron from Astrolabe said players can learn about delicate ecosystem balance through Aloft. The game teaches how small actions can help nature thrive. Players have already seen new content with the March Critters and Wonders update. Astrolabe promises more updates throughout 2025 but hasn't...
RTX 5060 Ti 8GB Flops Big Time
NVIDIA released two RTX 5060 Ti models—one with 8GB memory and another with 16 GB. The 8GB version struggles badly with modern games at higher resolutions. HardwareUnboxed testing shows massive performance gaps between these models. In The Last of Us Part II at 4K settings, the 16GB card delivered 120% better frame rates than the 8GB version. The memory limitation severely limits Blackwell architecture's capabilities. Frame rate differences reached up to 320% in some gaming scenarios, making the 8GB model almost unusable for newer titles. Other popular games, like Final Fantasy XIV and Hogwarts Legacy, showed 30-40% performance differences between the models. Most reviewers received the 16GB version for testing, hiding these issues...
T Mobile User Feels Misled After Trying to Cancel Watch Line
Phone companies push hard to sell new services, sometimes leaving fake reviews or using tricky sales tactics. Many customers feel frustrated with these practices. One T-Mobile user called to cancel their Apple Watch cellular plan but ended up more confused after the call. The sales rep offered to keep the line active with a credit that would make it seem free. When the next bill arrived, no credits appeared. The customer discovered the rep never applied any promised credits. The situation became even worse when the customer learned their other lines had been downgraded from unlimited data to just 2GB without a clear explanation. Instead of solving a simple cancellation request, the customer faced billing problems requiring multiple...
Samsung Plans Tri Fold Galaxy and Z Flip 7 FE for Year End
Samsung plans to launch two new foldable phones later this year. The first will be a tri-fold Galaxy device nicknamed the Galaxy G Fold that can bend in three places. The second will be a budget version called the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. According to The Bell, both phones should arrive between October and December. Samsung wants to compete with Huawei's Mate XT, which already has a tri-fold display that impressed many people. The company started making screens for its regular Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 models, which will come out in July or August. The tri-fold and budget models need more time to finish. Samsung hopes these new phones will help it take back market share from Chinese competitors. The cheaper Z Flip model aims to make...

Apple Leads PC Market with M4 MacBook Air Growth Threatened
Apple jumped ahead of other computer makers with its new M4 MacBook Air, helping the company grow 17% compared to last year. This growth rate beat every competitor in the first three months of 2025. The Sky Blue color option made the already popular $999 device even more attractive to buyers. Global PC shipments increased 6.7% during this period, reaching 61.4 million units worldwide. Lenovo was the only other brand that saw double-digit growth at 11%. Despite strong sales, experts from Counterpoint Research think this success might not last long. The main reason is new import tariffs coming from the Trump administration. These taxes could force Apple to raise prices on MacBooks, iPhones, and other products. Apple gained just 1% market...
AMD RX 9070 XT Gets Cooler with New Samsung Memory
AMD has changed the memory in its Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics cards. The original cards used SK Hynix memory chips, which often ran hot, sometimes above 85°C during heavy gaming sessions. New versions come with Samsung GDDR6 memory instead. Tests show these Samsung chips stay much cooler, usually under 75°C, even when pushed hard. This helps cards last longer because cooler parts break less often. Companies like Sapphire, XFX, and GIGABYTE already sell cards with Samsung memory. AMD hasn't told manufacturers to label which memory type each card uses on the box. The cooler running memory means fans can spin slower, making your computer quieter during gameplay. Performance stays the same between both memory types - only temperatures...
