Official under probe for turning govt car into taxi
The Local Government Ministry has started investigating claims that Bikita District Development Coordinator Bernard Hadzirabwi used his government car for taxi services. Ministry spokesperson Gabriel Masvora told Masvingo Mirror they want to check if Hadzirabwi really used an Isuzu single-cab truck with registration MLG 164 as a private taxi. People say Hadzirabwi picked up eight riders near the Masvingo courts on March 31, 2025, around 7:30 a.m., when heading to Nyika Growth Point. One person sat up front, and seven climbed in back, paying between US$1 and US$3 for rides. When asked about this, Hadzirabwi wanted proof of these actions. After learning the reporter herself paid him US$3 as his final passenger at Nyika Growth Point, he...
Crash kills newlyweds on Harare Chirundu highway
A young married couple died in a terrible crash on the Harare-Chirundu Highway on Thursday. Kelvin Chimombe, 26, and Charmaine Tembo, 18, had been married just four months when they became victims at the notorious accident spot. They were among six people who lost their lives instantly at the 214km marker. The pair married earlier this year in January. Tembo grew up in Chirundu with her sister, Melisa Ushemakota, who told reporters she raised Tembo as her sister. Before her marriage, Tembo worked as a hairdresser at a local salon. Their mothers were sisters, creating a close bond between them. The couple traveled to Murombedzi in Zvimba district for a memorial service honoring Kelvin's uncle. Nobody expected their journey would end...
Ndlozi backs Malema on Dubuli Bhunu chant
Mbuyiseni Ndlozi came to Julius Malema's defense after Kenny Kunene called him names. These comments happened because Donald Trump said bad things were happening in South Africa. Trump said he would skip the G20 summit in November. Ndlozi, who recently left the EFF for PowerFM after issues with Malema, still supported his former leader against Kunene's remarks. Ndlozi thinks revolutionaries need to stir things up. He believes people should not attack those who sing "Dubuli Bhunu" (Kill The Boer). He points out that South Africans sing Die Stem daily as part of the national anthem. Ndlozi feels everyone should stand with Julius on this matter because the song represents their heritage. He says there is no link between singing this...
Malawi opposition parties team up for win
Malawi opposition groups struggle with taking lesser roles in possible election teams. DPP, UTM, UDF, and AFORD want leadership positions rather than supporting roles. Working together, these parties would create strong competition against the ruling MCP party. Their combined effort could win more seats and shape how the country runs. Joining forces helps avoid splitting votes between many candidates, making winning against the MCP much more likely. Together, they can share money, people, and supplies for better campaigns across the country. Different political ideas come together when parties unite, letting more citizens' voices count in elections. They can pick the best person to run in each area, making sure they have the strongest...

Neva bridges go up for boats on April 20
Bridges on Neva branches start opening again this Sunday, April 20. The season includes Kantemirovsky, Grenadersky, and Sampsonievsky bridges. These crossings will keep opening for ships until November 15. Anyone who needs these bridges raised must ask two days before their ships need to pass. The St. Petersburg Mostotrest office shared this information recently. These bridges open much less often than others in the city. Last year, each one opened only about six times, including test raises during winter. Compare that with Palace and Blagoveshchensky bridges, which opened 373 times each during the same period. River navigation just began throughout Petersburg's waterways. Ship captains plan their routes carefully around these...
