County lawmakers from five Lake Victoria regions came together in Kisumu for special training about checking up on local governments. The classes started this week as part of a national plan to make sure elected officials know how to watch over public money. Representatives from Kisumu, Homa Bay, Siaya, Migori, and Kisii attended first, with other counties scheduled later. These local leaders learned about their duties to keep county bosses honest when spending taxpayer cash.
