Congo's President Felix Tshisekedi changed the punishment for three Americans from death to life in prison, a presidential spokesperson said yesterday. The Americans had been found guilty of joining a failed plot to take over the government last year. This decision came more than six months after a military court gave death sentences to these three people plus more than 30 others for their part in the failed attack.

The mining company Zimasco won an important court battle this week against lawyer Wilson Manase. The High Court stopped Manase from calling himself their rescue manager.
