ASA Savings women push for top leadership roles
Women working at ASA Savings and Loans want more chances to lead. During their International Women's Day event, female staff members told managers they feel passed over for big roles that usually go to men. These women asked company leaders to put more females in key positions and value what they bring to important decisions. Some urged their female coworkers to build better skills and knowledge so they'll be ready when leadership jobs open up, either at ASA or elsewhere. They also asked bosses to notice and reward hard workers to keep everyone motivated. Human Resources Manager Eunice Boadu answered these concerns with good news. She said ASA had already started programs to help women advance their careers. Out of 1,300 total...
Kwakye Ofosu blasts NPP for bloated political hires
Felix Kwakye Ofosu slammed the old NPP government for having way too many people working for them. He told reporters that the NPP packed the President's Office with hundreds of political friends, something President Mahama won't do. "Check the records yourself - back in 2022, the NPP had hundreds of political appointees at the President's Office," he said. All those extra workers cost taxpayers tons of money. Ofosu promised the Mahama team would hire far fewer presidential staffers and helpers. "We can tell you right away our numbers will stay below half of what the NPP had when they ran things," he stated firmly. Ofosu also denied rumors that Mahama secretly added more ministers to his cabinet. "We appointed exactly 56 ministers. Mr...
Kwakye Ofosu clears claims of extra ministers and aides
Felix Kwakye Ofosu says President Mahama isn't hiring too many government workers. He claims their NDC government will actually be the smallest ever in Ghana's history. After a special Cabinet meeting, Ofosu told reporters that rumors about Mahama appointing 100 ministers and hiding some at the presidency were completely false. The real number is just 56 ministers, much fewer than previous governments. Ofosu gave exact numbers for presidential staff. Only 30 people work as presidential staffers or aides today, compared to the 336 political appointees working under the NPP government back in 2022. Every presidential staffer has been publicly named—specifically, 27 staffers plus three aides for special projects. The government saves...
68th Independence drives Offinso North to renew patriotism
Mr. Daniel Owusu, the Offinso North District Coordinating Director, wants people to love their country more and help build a better Ghana. He shared these thoughts during the 68th Independence Day celebration. The Offinso North District Assembly organized the event at Akumadan D/A School Park with the theme "Reflect, Review, and Reset." Owusu believes this theme fits perfectly with Ghana's current needs. He asks everyone to think about how far the country has come, look at what it has accomplished, and make changes where needed for a stronger future. He points out that Ghana has made great progress in many areas during its 68 years of independence. The country improved its government systems, schools, medical care, roads, and economy...
Ho marks 68th Independence with spirited health walk
The Ho schools didn't throw a big party for Ghana's 68th Independence Day. Instead, they followed the President's orders to keep celebrations small. Teachers and students from different schools in Ho joined together for a fun "Independence Walk" to celebrate. They started at OLA Top and walked through town before ending up at the Ho Municipal Assembly building. Dr. Esther Yeboah-Adzimah talked to everyone about the theme "Reflect, Review, Reset." She asked people to remember those who fought for freedom and think about where Ghana stands today. She praised Ghana for making progress in education, technology, and society. But she also pointed out problems facing young people these days. She mentioned mental health issues caused by school...
State Member gives motorcycles to boost local reporting
Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple gave seven motorcycles to help local reporters at the Duamenefa Foundation. As a Council of State Member for the Volta Region, he wants these motorcycles to help community journalists travel more easily when they cover important stories in their areas. The foundation distributed these motorcycles in several places: Keta Municipality, Akatsi South, Ketu South, Ketu North, Anlo District, and even into Togo Zanguera areas like Segbe and Akanu. This way, reporters can reach more places and even cover news across borders. Kwamigah-Atokple believes this helps people participate more in how their communities are run. The Executive Board of Governors at Duamenefa Foundation and Fafaa FM thanked him deeply. They...
Zimbabwe Holds Steady Platinum Output in Tough Market
Zimbabwe will produce nearly the same amount of platinum in 2025 as it did in 2024—around 514,000 ounces compared to 512,000 ounces. This steady output happens as the world needs more platinum than miners can dig up. The latest World Platinum Investment Council report shows global platinum supplies will drop by 4 percent to 7 million ounces. South African mines face big problems, yet Zimbabwe keeps its production stable despite energy shortages and economic troubles across the region. For the third year running, platinum demand will exceed supply worldwide. The market will need 848,000 more ounces than miners can produce in 2025, slightly better than the 995,000-ounce shortage in 2024. Investors keep buying platinum because they see...

Detectives shoot fleeing suspect and arrest robbery gang
Police caught four men who stole $129,111 from three Meru gas stations in Harare. The crooks—Willard Zvinorukwa (48), Ernest Manzunzu (45), Ashwin Mukondwa (30), and Bornface Masora (31)—didn't stay free for long after their armed robbery. Commissioner Paul Nyathi stated that police detectives learned one suspect was hiding in Chitungwiza. When cops found Zvinorukwa, he tried running away. They fired warning shots, but he kept running until they shot him once in the leg. After catching him, police nabbed the other three guys. Zvinorukwa told police about eight more people involved who haven't been caught yet. The thieves split the stolen money among themselves, each pocketing between $4,000 and $10,000. They spent it buying stuff and...
