Lukwago Urges Kenyans to Demand Answers on Besigye Rendition
Kampala Mayor Erias Lukwago asked Kenyan lawmakers to find out why their government let Dr. Kizza Besigye get arrested. Besigye and his friend Hajj Obeid Lutale Kamulegeya were taken from Nairobi last November by Ugandan security. They drove them across the border to Uganda. Both men faced charges of having illegal guns and bullets. The military court in Kampala also accused them of treachery. Kenya has said nothing about what happened. This makes people think Kenya helped with the arrest. On Thursday, Lukwago told Kenyan lawmakers they should ask their leaders why Uganda forces were allowed to enter Kenya and take people. "We ask the government of Kenya, I am glad the MPs are here, the Senators are here; why don't you demand that...

Ugandan Car Dealers Frustrated by Digital Plate Delays
Car dealers in Uganda feel upset about problems with the new digital license plate program. This program should make it easier to identify cars, but it faces many troubles. Dealers say the program runs poorly. "We're seeing delays of three to five days just to get number plates fitted," a car seller from Kampala said without giving his name. "This happens because of payment problems, and then we wait longer for logbooks. It causes big backups." The payment system works poorly and doesn't connect well with other systems. Also, the company making the plates often runs out of materials. "We're constantly running out of stock," another dealer said. The provider simply can't keep up with demand." More problems exist beyond these issues...

Rwanda Faces Existential Threat From DRC Conflict
Rwanda's Foreign Minister, Gen. James Kabarebe, told the European Union that fighting in Congo poses a serious safety threat to Rwanda. He met with EU Special Envoy Johan Borgstam in Kigali. Kabarebe defended Rwanda's protection of itself and said it is not causing problems in eastern Congo. These talks happen as tensions grow between countries. Congo says Rwanda gives money and guns to the M23 rebels to steal Congo's minerals. Congo believes Rwanda makes violence worse, forces people from their homes, and creates more suffering in eastern Congo. The EU and the United States worry about Rwanda's actions. The US recently punished Kabarebe, saying he helped M23. Kabarebe said these claims are wrong. He thinks Rwanda is being blamed...

Uganda group vows protest over Kenyan paper insult
The Patriotic League of Uganda plans a protest at Kenya's High Commission in Kampala next Wednesday. They are upset about a news story in The Standard newspaper that called General Muhoozi Kainerugaba a "Four-star brat." Muhoozi is President Museveni's son and serves as a top military leader. PLU leader Daudi Kabanda said The Standard was mean to Muhoozi, who heads the PLU. Kabanda said their protest would be "energetic." He claimed Kenya had burned Uganda's High Commission last year with no response from Uganda. But he warned they would respond strongly to this newspaper insult. The Standard wrote about Muhoozi's social media posts that caused problems between countries. The paper discussed how Muhoozi has gained power in Uganda's...
