Do you still see the influence of contemporary African marriage traditions and customs putting pressure towards the idea of women getting more respect if married in African societies?
There is now a growing trend of African women marrying themselves. Perhaps they do it as a means to avoid being shunned by friends and relatives.
Do you mean the decision of a woman paying her own lobola ("roora")?
Yes, that's what I meant.
But more and more African women are now breadwinners and earn more money than their partners. So in theory doesn't it make sense for her to help with lobola ("bride price")?
There is now a growing trend of African women marrying themselves.
How can you force yourself on a man and into a marriage besides the lobola thing?
By giving it up too fast and using your body to get him to fall for you, then getting pregnant when that's not what he's ready for or what he wants at the moment. And later on using the baby to convince him to be a family with you.
What you have literary said there is that somehow the woman is solely to blame in trapping him? Why should he neglect the use protection (contraception), knowing pregnancy can be the end result?
What about the often referenced standpoint that African culture is set up to protect men in many traditional scenarios?
I don't get it, why can't those unhappy women leave if they aren't fully satisfied?

So what do y'all think can really keep a woman?
You are not gonna find a perfect answer for that...
So what do y'all think can really keep a woman?
The conversation needs to be about, "what men can do to keep their wives?". Women aren't just settling for less these days.
