Abia governor blasts Umuahia Enugu rail delay

Abia Governor Alex Otti worries about stopped work on the Umuahia-Enugu railway section. These projects should have finished early last year, but remain incomplete. He shared these concerns during a meeting with the new Nigeria Railway Corporation head, Kayode Opeifa.

Otti believes the new manager will bring needed speed to railway projects nationwide, especially in Southeast Nigeria. The governor called transportation key to economic growth. His administration works to modernize transport across Abia State. He noted that other parts of the railway corridor moved faster than this section.

When Opeifa mentioned security problems with NRC assets in Aba, Otti promised help. The governor said his government treats federal projects like state ones. The NRC leader came to discuss reviving the Aba-Umuahia rail line. His team aims to connect all major Southeast cities to the national rail network.
