ACEP gives media the scoop on finance and anti corruption

The Africa Centre for Energy Policy threw a power-packed training workshop for journalists and media creators, zeroing in on how to crack the code of public finance tracking and corruption reporting in Ghana.

At the Fiesta Royal Hotel in Accra, ACEP's legal director Kofi Bentil fired up the crowd, challenging media pros to slam the brakes on corruption by keeping national leaders under a microscope. He hammered home that when nobody holds leaders accountable, bad decisions can run wild and wreck national progress.

Bentil broke down how government systems can push even well-intentioned leaders toward sketchy practices. He challenged journalists to dig deep and shine light on shady corners, promising that courage pays off. If reporters stay true to truth and justice, good things will follow.

The seasoned legal expert also dropped some wisdom about professional integrity. Owning up to mistakes and apologizing isn't weakness it's strength. He reminded the room that free speech comes with responsibility journalists must balance constitutional rights with ethical reporting and watch out for defamation landmines.

This intensive session was part of ACEP's bigger mission to arm journalists with razor-sharp skills for investigating governance, financial management, and corruption across Ghana. The goal is crystal clear: equip media warriors to fight for transparency and keep power players honest.
