Afekuha Criticizes Peter Obi for Using Social Media to Undermine Court Case

A lawyer criticized former presidential candidate Peter Obi for his social media posts about a property dispute. Barrister Mayomi Afekuha said Obi tried to influence public opinion on a case that courts are still hearing. Obi had written online that someone demolished his brother's property without proper legal authority. The building had existed for more than 15 years before workers tore it down. Afekuha called the social media campaign an attempt to manipulate people through emotions.

The activist lawyer pointed out problems with Obi's story about who controlled the land. Obi mentioned his family, his brother, and a company as different owners of the same property. Afekuha said this confusion showed Obi lacked solid legal evidence for his claims. He warned that powerful people should not use public sympathy instead of following proper court procedures. The lawyer described this approach as dangerous and irresponsible.

Court records show Mrs. Olorunlogbon has legal documents proving she controls the disputed property. She received official certificates and a judge ruled in her favor after following all required steps. Afekuha said the legal process included multiple public notices before the demolition happened. He urged Obi to contest the matter through official channels rather than social media platforms. The lawyer warned that media campaigns could damage trust in the justice system.

Afekuha told political leaders to respect court decisions and avoid turning legal disputes into political fights. He reminded people that Obi lost the 2023 election and should not attack the judiciary over personal matters.
