AfriForum chief blasts Ramaphosa for sowing national division

AfriForum leader Kallie Kriel has responded to President Cyril Ramaphosa's claim that groups like Solidarity are making the country less united by going to see the Trump team in America.

Ramaphosa said at an education meeting in Gauteng that these groups are not helping build the nation but are instead creating divisions by asking other countries to fix South African problems.

Kriel explained that they went to the White House because the South African government would not listen to their worries. He blamed Ramaphosa and ANC chiefs for causing division through laws about landtaking and the Bela Act.

He stated that Ramaphosa signed the Bela Act, which he called anti-Afrikaans and harmful to Afrikaans-speaking groups. Kriel also pointed out that Ramaphosa approved the Expropriation Act, refuses to speak against "Kill the Boer" calls, and does not admit farm murders happen.

The lobby groups sent letters to Ramaphosa about these concerns and tensions with the US, but he did not respond to them, according to Kriel.

He added that they plan to keep fighting for both South Africa and Afrikaners despite these challenges. The criticism makes them more determined to spread their message clearly. Kriel mentioned they will not be quiet because of "cancel culture" and feel positive about what comes next.

The group remains in America, talking with Trump officials.
