Ahsan Iqbal faces backlash as Independence Day unity push divides Pakistan

Pakistan's top planning boss wants every corner of the country involved in Independence Day celebrations that bring people together. Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal told government officials during a major coordination meeting that August 14th should include all provinces plus Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. The minister stressed that celebrations must represent everyone and create real national unity. He called for events that promote harmony and show the world what Pakistan stands for. Officials from multiple government departments attended the high-level meeting in Islamabad.

Special Assistant Rana Sanaullah joined Minister Iqbal along with Interior State Minister Talal Chaudhry and military representatives. The planning chief reviewed different proposals for organizing Independence Day events across the nation. Government teams discussed ways to make celebrations meaningful for young people and ordinary citizens. Iqbal directed that streets and highways get special lighting to create a festive mood. The minister believes bright decorations will send a powerful message of hope and solidarity to other countries.

All participating ministries received orders to start working on their assigned duties immediately. The coordination efforts aim to make Independence Day more than just a regular holiday celebration. Officials want the events to strengthen social bonds and create lasting national engagement. The minister emphasized that celebrations should clearly communicate their purpose and meaning to the public. Government leaders hope the nationwide festivities will reinforce unity and shared national identity.
