Air Peace refunds passengers stranded in Barbados

Air Peace faces heat after allegedly dumping Jamaica-bound passengers in Barbados during the holidays. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the carrier agreed to refund travelers following accusations that the airline sold tickets for Kingston but flew everyone to Bridgetown instead. While victims claim they were blindsided at the airport, management insists the route change happened because people lacked necessary transit visas for the original path through Antigua. The airline asserts that forty-two customers voluntarily accepted the detour rather than canceling their trips.

The company seemingly blames the passengers for the confusion by arguing nobody was forced to board the plane. They state that staff discovered the documentation errors during pre-departure checks at Murtala Muhammed International Airport and immediately offered money back. The carrier maintains that the Barbados option was merely a suggestion since Nigerian passport holders do not need visas to pass through that specific island.

Official regulators stepped in to guarantee payouts regardless of who messed up the paperwork. Michael Achimugu verified the settlement deal on X, which theoretically closes the book on this specific operational meltdown. It basically leaves the internet debating whether those travelers actually knew what they were signing up for before leaving Lagos last month.
