AMD UDNA5 Poised to Dethrone NVIDIA in Ray Tracing

AMD wants to make better ray tracing for its next computer chips. The company filed many patents about this technology during the past two years, showing that AMD aims to catch up with NVIDIA in gaming graphics. The RX 9070 series has already gained fans because it offers good value for money. AMD needs better ray tracing, not just for computers but also for PlayStation game systems.

A person on Reddit found these patents and explained what they mean. AMD works on something called BVH management that finds similar objects in game scenes and compresses them. This saves computer power and makes games run faster. The company also improves how rays move through game worlds to create realistic lighting. AMD might soon match what NVIDIA can do with its Blackwell chips.

AMD also teams up with Sony on Project Amethyst to create advanced path tracing. They plan to use AI to make games look better without needing very powerful hardware. Gamers will benefit from this competition between companies as it leads to faster and better graphics cards.
