Apple to charge $50 for iPhone 17 Pro's long overdue storage fix

Apple prepares to launch the iPhone 17 Pro with doubled base storage capacity, according to recent industry speculation. Chinese technology insider Instant Digital reports the device will feature 256GB as the entry-level option rather than the current 128GB configuration. The company plans to implement a $50 price increase to offset the enhanced storage specifications across the product line. This adjustment would establish parity between the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models regarding their minimum storage offerings. Component cost inflation and ongoing tariffs contribute to the anticipated pricing modifications.

The storage enhancement addresses longstanding consumer criticism about insufficient capacity and the absence of expandable memory slots. Regular iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air variants will maintain their existing 128GB starting points according to current projections. Industry analysts expect the iPhone 17 Pro to retail for approximately $1,045 when Apple announces the lineup on September 9. The storage upgrade provides additional value while justifying the premium pricing structure. This strategy simplifies consumer decision-making between Pro model variants while addressing storage limitations.
