Araghchi reaffirms Iran's uranium enrichment as nuclear talks resume in Istanbul

Tehran's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi affirmed Iran's determination to pursue uranium enrichment activities before European diplomatic meetings resume. Araghchi made these statements during a Friday gathering with relatives of Major General Mohammad Baqeri. The minister emphasized Iran's position that peaceful nuclear development represents an undeniable national right under global legal frameworks. He declared that enrichment operations would persist without compromise.

The announcement preceded scheduled negotiations between Iran and representatives from Germany, France, Britain, and the European Union in Istanbul. Recent military actions have escalated tensions after Israel conducted strikes against Iranian facilities in June through Operation Rising Lion. American forces subsequently targeted three Iranian nuclear installations, prompting Tehran to condemn these attacks as violations of international treaties and United Nations principles.

Araghchi characterized the forthcoming discussions as extensions of earlier diplomatic efforts held in Geneva, New York, and Istanbul during previous months. The minister stressed that productive dialogue requires mutual recognition of Iran's peaceful nuclear energy rights.
