ARC Raiders Extraction Shooter Shocks Gamers Big Time

Embark Studios changed ARC Raiders from its original plan. The game shifted from a team shooter to an extraction shooter with both player versus player and player versus machine elements. Players become Raiders who travel to the surface of a future Earth ruled by machines called ARC. They must find resources and fight off other human players during matches that last up to 30 minutes.

The game uses a third-person view instead of first-person, like most similar games. Maps offer plenty of vertical movement with ziplines already set up or ones players can place themselves. Character growth happens through experience points earned during matches, regardless of survival. Players can spend skill points on abilities like using less stamina when running or making items appear faster.

ARC Raiders lets players craft items such as ammunition and healing supplies. Different weapons need specific ammo types, making resource hunting important. Players can take missions from merchants for rewards and build crafting stations for better gear. The machines come in various forms, from easy drones to dangerous metal beasts best avoided.

The graphics look impressive, with support for Unreal Engine 5 and NVIDIA. Tokens earned through gameplay can be used to buy Battle Passes. Items within passes cost Cred, which players earn from daily challenges. The test version has three Battle Passes available.
