Bulawayo hails 243 skilled grads as job creators, not seekers

Bulawayo celebrated the graduation of over two hundred vocational students this week. The ceremony at City Hall highlighted training programs in trades like solar installation, motor mechanics, and carpentry. Mayor David Coltart, through deputy Edwin Ndlovu, called the event a key step for economic growth and youth empowerment.

Officials urged the graduates to become entrepreneurs and create jobs in a competitive market. They credited local partners and companies for supporting the three-year skills programs. Several top students expressed plans to start their own businesses, with one aiming to provide solar energy services in her community.

Parents at the event shared pride in the practical qualifications, seeing them as a path to stable livelihoods. The city framed the initiative as aligning with national development goals, emphasizing hands-on skills over purely academic credentials.
