Bulawayo Man Mourns Wife and Kids in Crash

A Bulawayo man living in South Africa faces overwhelming grief after losing his wife, Mary, and two daughters in a car crash. David Gotore learned the terrible news while traveling from Zimbabwe to South Africa on March 28. The accident happened when a truck with failed brakes hit their car head-on in Louis Trichardt. His wife, Mary, 42, daughter Atalia, 21, and five-year-old Kiara died in the collision. One child survived the crash.

The tragedy sent David into depression, requiring four days of hospital care. He paid tribute to Mary, his wife of 25 years, calling her his strength and rock. He described Atalia as quiet with many dreams and Kiara as spirited and fearless. Friends, family, and former colleagues gathered to support him during this difficult time. The community showed up to help the grieving husband.

The funeral service featured three coffins with pictures of each family member. Many mourners cried openly during the ceremony as speakers shared memories. The procession later moved to Luveve Cemetery, where mother and daughters were laid to rest together last Saturday. Their deaths created a void felt throughout the extended family and community.
