Bulawayo Pizza Boss Farms Veggies to Cut Costs

Xolani Dube runs Slice Pizzeria and decided to start farming. He wants to grow his restaurant ingredients rather than buy them from other suppliers. The businessman bought land near Insiza North to plant vegetables like potatoes and tomatoes. His farm will cut costs and give him better control over food quality. This business move helps him make more money from his two pizza shops.

Slice Pizzeria won the small business award at a recent trade ceremony. Dube credits his staff for the recognition and says it motivates everyone to work harder. He plans to open more restaurants across Zimbabwe cities and towns. His wife Nomagugu helps run the business they started after returning from overseas. The couple opened their first location back during October 2013.

The restaurant owners want to use more technology for daily operations. Digital systems will help them serve customers faster and track sales better. They plan to sell food online through websites and phone apps. The farm project represents their biggest expansion since opening the second location. Dube also supports local schools and orphanages through charity work.
