Central Region prosecutors need cash for trials

Prosecutors at the Central Region's Attorney-General's Office are asking for financial help to do their jobs better. They need money to cover witness expenses like travel, staying somewhere, and paying expert witnesses such as pathologists. Vincent Aboagye Nyinaku, who leads the regional office, explained that prosecutors often pay these costs themselves, which makes doing their work harder.

The appeal came during the opening of this year's criminal court sessions at Cape Coast. Nyinaku highlighted how important the Attorney-General's Office is for delivering criminal justice and wants more resources to speed up trials. He told the court his team has 16 cases to handle, most involving murder charges, and plans to finish them before the legal year ends.

Judges and court officials stressed the critical nature of criminal justice for maintaining social order. They reminded everyone that fair trials depend on strong evidence and avoiding corruption. The supervising high court judge urged all judicial workers to approach cases with total commitment to fairness and justice.

The office wants to clear its growing case backlog and improve court efficiency. Nyinaku emphasized that without effective criminal justice, society could fall into chaos. He called on all stakeholders to support and strengthen the justice system.

Court leaders believe collective effort and legal principles can help deliver fair and quick trials. They aim to protect individual rights while maintaining public peace and security. The criminal sessions represent an important moment for justice in the Central Region.
