Nankhumwa Takes On MCP in Central Region Rally

People's Democratic Party leader Kondwani Nankhumwa wants to shake up politics in the Central Region, where the Malawi Congress Party usually wins. His four-day campaign tour runs from April 10 to 13 across MCP strongholds. He hopes to grab voters who feel let down by the current government. The tour kicks off in Nkhoma with speeches aimed at people wanting something different from what they have today. Nankhumwa plans to speak directly to local communities about their problems.

The first day includes stops at Mpenu, Mazengera, plus Court grounds in Nkhoma for rallies. Friday sees him returning to Nkhoma before visiting Chowo and Chamadenga. On Saturday, his team heads to politically active Dzenza to meet citizens questioning their leaders. The campaign continues through Mtsiliza and Mtandile Mwenera Grounds as part of their strategy. Sunday finishes with major rallies at Area 23, Mloza, Kaliyeka, Ngwenya, and Tsetse Grounds.

Nankhumwa positions the PDP as more than just opposition—he presents them as ready to lead Malawi. This campaign tested public feelings ahead of the 2025 elections. The results might change Malawi's political future as the PDP fights to create a new story about how the country should be run.
