Chhattisgarh credits Rs 10,324 crore to farmers

Over Rs 10,324 crore landing directly in farmers' bank accounts just before Holi is a massive pre-festival financial push from the Chhattisgarh government.

  • Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai disbursed the amount to 25.28 lakh paddy-selling farmers.
  • Funds covered the gap between MSP and Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana payments.
  • The release happened at a state-level event in Rahangi village, Bilha development block, Bilaspur district.
  • Rs 494.38 crore of that total went specifically to 1,25,352 farmers in Bilaspur district.
Development projects announced at the event

  • A Primary Health Centre in Chakarbhata got an upgrade to a Community Health Centre.
  • Rs 50 lakh each was earmarked for Satnami and Adivasi community halls in Pattharkhan.
Sai's broader policy talking points
  • Zero-interest agricultural loans and Kisan Credit Card expansion were flagged as farmer-friendly wins.
  • Left Wing Extremism in Bastar is apparently on its last legs, per Sai.
  • An agreement with the National Dairy Development Board is meant to push milk production higher.
  • Housing sanctions for 18 lakh beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana were cited as a fulfilled Modi guarantee.
