Chivayo Defends Mnangagwa Against War Veteran Threats

After Blessed Runesu Geza repeatedly threatened him, businessman Wicknell Chivayo stepped up to defend President Emmerson Mnangagwa from planned protests across Zimbabwe. Mnangagwa faces pressure from angry war veterans led by Geza, who want him removed because they believe his government has failed and allowed corruption. These protest threats made the government act defensively by sending security forces to stop any demonstrations.

Chivayo criticized Geza harshly on social media, saying the former fighter lacks political power and nobody should listen to him. He described Zimbabwe as peaceful, with educated citizens who hold Christian values and follow laws. He called the protests illegal and violent, saying they went against Zimbabwean values that every peace-loving person should reject.

Chivayo claimed Geza lost the right to respect and became just a failed politician hiding from justice who tries to cause trouble from outside the country. The ruling party kicked Geza out for bad behavior, making him irrelevant and desperate as he led criminals and bitter opposition members. Geza targeted Chivayo specifically, accusing him of making money through corrupt government contracts.

Last year, people discovered that Chivayo represented a company that won a $100 million contract from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission to provide materials for the 2023 elections. Geza named Chivayo and another businessman, Kudakwashe Tagwirei, as targets. Cars burned at both their properties Thursday night under suspicious circumstances. Chivayo labeled the March 31 protests as terrorism against the government.

He said changing from peaceful legal demonstrations to burning vehicles, destroying property, and calling for violent government removal breaks the law and counts as treason and terrorism. He urged all citizens to ignore protest calls from anarchists like Geza and continue life normally. These protests revealed faction fights happening inside the ruling party. At Thursday's party meeting, Mnangagwa warned members supporting Geza.

Chivayo stated that anyone wanting a leadership position must wait until Mnangagwa finishes his term in 2028. The President promised to step down then as someone who respects the constitution. He said that when that time arrives, he personally will back whoever wins a democratic election with prayers and money to keep Zanu PF running the country forever.
